
Melquisedec es el sacerdote receptor del primer diezmo registrado en la Biblia, dado por Abraham y el primer sacerdote-rey. Esta doble función que luego fue prohibida por Dios en Números 3:10.
"Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying, 'Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, "Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace."' So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I shall bless them."
